IAC Welcomes CHA WA
Join us for an electrifying evening as the Iredell Arts Council proudly presents its 2nd Annual Street Concert on May 11th, featuring the sensational sounds of Cha Wa.
Opening the show with their infectious rap and R&B beats, local sensation Insomniacs will set the stage for an electrifying evening. Then, prepare to be swept away by the sensational sounds of Cha Wa!
Hailing from the lively streets of New Orleans, Cha Wa isn't just a band – they're a force of nature, blending the infectious beats of brass bands with the rich tradition of Mardi Gras Indians. Their music resonates with the spirit of the city, pulsating with energy and passion.
Their latest album, "My People," isn't just Grammy-nominated – it's a celebration of resilience and joy. Each track is a testament to the enduring spirit of New Orleans, from the funky rhythms to the soulful lyrics. As drummer Joe Gelini puts it, "Mardi Gras Indian songs are inherently songs about freedom," and that message couldn't be more relevant today.
Prepare to be swept away by Cha Wa's irresistible blend of singing, intoxicating rhythms, and deep funk grooves. As Popmatters raves, they're "a grand gumbo" of musical talent that's impossible to resist.
Aside from the spectacular music lineup, attendees of the event can indulge in the delectable offerings from Ember Craft Fusion and The Roots food trucks, along with the refreshing brews from Red Buffalo Brewing, all conveniently available onsite.
So mark your calendars and get ready to experience the magic of New Orleans right here on Court Street. Join us for a night of music, community, and celebration at the Iredell Arts Council 2nd Annual Street Concert. Don't miss your chance to be a part of something truly special.
