Last Updated 10/2/2024

At the Iredell Arts Council Board meeting on September 17, 2024, John Koppelmeyer announced his retirement as Executive Director, effective November 30, 2024.

Koppelmeyer has been involved with the Iredell Arts Council for over 11 years, first serving as a Board member and Board chair, and for the past 4 ½ years as the Executive Director. Reflecting on his time with the organization, Koppelmeyer stated, "I am proud of the accomplishments we have been able to achieve, from upgrading our performance space to establishing the hugely successful Full Bloom Film Festival, growing the concert and art series, and generating support for local artists and art organizations."

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the artists, musicians, volunteers, board members, and donors who have contributed to the Council’s impact, noting, "I will cherish those relationships and memories to the end of my days."

Looking ahead, Koppelmeyer is optimistic about the future of the Iredell Arts Council. "I am excited to leave the Iredell Arts Council at a time when they are poised to take another leap in growing as a leader in our creative community. I look forward to what a new Executive Director can do for the Iredell Arts Council and encourage you to stay connected. I know I will."
